Final evening in Paris

Luxembourg Gardens

Another active day today, with a warm dinner experience, literary visits, and more. Perfect.

One of Hemingway's homes
Stacey was shining at the homes of Gertrude Stein, James Joyce and Ernest Hemingway. The paths to each -- by design, by serendipity and by vague address-slash-instinct -- enhanced the destinations.

Home of Gertrude Stein, east of Luxembourg Gardens
We used the Metropolitain effectively, and needed it sorely after discovering the entrance to Jardin des Plants is a looooooong way from its western edge.

Detail, Arc d'Triomphe
Also: The Jardin des Plants is also the Jardin des Animals. :)

Hemingway's hood
Tomorrow, train ride to Brussels (Thalys), then Bruges (IC).

Eiffel Tower, last night, from the Pantheon
Stacey is taking notes now. When we are done, this will be a good resource for clearing the blur.

Near the homes of Victor Hugo and Jim Morrison

  1. What did you think of Victor Hugo's house? I can still remember all the examples of how he wrote his own name over and over again, bigger and bigger. Was there a lot of dog poop on the street to his house? (One of my strongest memories of Paris.)

  2. Hugo's house was in a very nice condominium block -- though I'm sure that's not what they call it -- surrounding a lovely, symmetrical public park. Not a lot of dog poop. There was some, but easy enough to avoid. Creepily, some of the dog poop had t.p. next to it.
